Our client is a global leader within the FMCG and distribution arena, with a name synonymous with excellence is urgently seeking a Construction General Manager (CGM) to join the Fuels division in Dubai with some travel required to Afghanistan (approx 1 week every 6 weeks).
As the CGM you will be the primary lead on all vertical and horizontal construction tasks for the provision of technical fuels instillations and life support projects. The position will have a strategic and global outlook given that projects outside of regional Afghanistan are required to be planned, executed and closed out. This will entail having influence as part of the Strategic Planning team over a +12 month planning timeframe. You will ensure that construction or engineering projects are delivered within a predetermined time, cost and quality to the approval of The Client. In order to achieve this you will be required to manage a multi-disciplined team across all operational areas via disciplined recruitment, training, business management and direction suitable for individual project teams to deliver the projects. You will also protect The Company from negative market exposure or financial risk ensuring future business by promoting a professional organization, with successful products within a well balanced self sufficient organization confident of delivering any type or size of task. The financial risk is the management of contracts to the value of approximately 80 million USD.
The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines - architecture, construction law, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, construction science or related field with an emphasis on engineering management. Professional Accreditation with a recognized body is advantageous (ICE, CIOB, IEE, RIBA and PMI). You must have a minimum of 10 years post graduate experience with at least 3 years based in the Middle East. You will be a proven leader with strong decision maker skills and a technical knowledge of surveying equipment, material sampling and testing and the Project Management Institute or APM principles is advantageous. You must be highly IT literate in P3/P6, MS Project, AutoCAD, Asta, ACONEX, StruCAD and CivilCAD with a sound knowledge of the FIDIC Suite of Contracts and applicable Law Rulings being essential. Candidate available immediately are preferred.
Salary package: 7,000 – 8,000 USD per month plus an annual bonus of 12,000 USD, a return flight ticket to home country and medical insurance.
